Dubai Duty Free was named the “Best Airport for Duty Free Shopping in the Middle East”
for the 17th consecutive year at the recently concluded Business Traveller Middle East (BTME) Awards held at the Palazzo Versace Dubai.
Dubai Duty Free, which achieved sales of US$1.93 billion in 2017, came out tops in the readers’ survey conducted by the magazine within the category “Best Airport for Duty Free Shopping in the Middle East.”
More than 400 executives from the travel industry attended the awards ceremony hosted by Motivate and Panacea Publishing, the Middle East magazine’s joint venture partner, and with BBC security correspondent and author Frank Gardner OBE, as Guest of Honour.
Commenting on the BTME award, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of Dubai Duty Free, Colm McLoughlin said: “This award reflects the views and opinions of frequent travelers and to receive this for the 17th consecutive year is very special and reflects the hard work of all of our employees. I would like to thank H.H. Receiving the award on behalf of Dubai Duty Free was Ramesh Cidambi, Chief Operating Officer, who was accompanied at the awards evening by Saba Tahir, Senior Vice President-Purchasing, Michael Schmidt, Senior Vice President-Retail Support and Sharon Beecham-VP-Purchasing.
