Stage is Set for the 17th Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup

Over 120 golfers have been honing their golfing skills in Dubai in preparation for the 17th Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup which is taking place on the 25th and 26th November at the Montgomerie Golf Club and the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club respectively. Open to representatives of the duty free industry only, this year’s tournament has attracted over 70 international players from over 20 countries, with the remaining players coming from the UAE.

Commenting on the overwhelming popularity of the golf tournament, Colm McLoughlin, Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free said: “This tournament has gone from strength to strength over the years and we are delighted to say that some of our players have been here every year since 1993.”

The international players have flown in from all around the world, including Great Britain, Germany, France, Ireland, Canada, Australia, Singapore and Netherlands.

On the social front, the golfers and guests will be entertained by an Irish artist, Mary Black and her band, as well as an opera trio ‘Elysium’ at a private concert taking place at The Irish Village on the evening of the 26th November.

The tournament, which is organized by Dubai Duty Free takes place in the middles of an extremely busy week in Dubai. Two days prior to the tournament sees the staging of Middle East Duty Free Association (MEDFA) conference which is held at Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in Dubai on 23rd and 24th November, featuring top industry speakers addressing regional and global issues.

The sporting theme continues in December with the Dubai Rugby 7’s (from 3rd to 5th) to be held at the Sevens, Dubai in which Dubai Duty Free co-sponsors the Welsh team along with The Irish Village. The operation will also co-sponsor the final leg of the Offshore Powerboat Championship taking place at DIMC on the 11th and 12th December.
