James Kfouri won the 17th Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup by a single point on Thursday, 26th November at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. Kfouri carded a superb 40 points over the first round at the Montgomerie and followed up with 35 points at Dubai Creek to take the prestigious title.
Commenting on the success of the 17th DDF Golf World Cup, Colm McLoughlin, Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free said: "we have been delighted with the response to this year's tournament which attracted so many overseas visitors and locally based players. The tournament promotes healthy competition but it is also a great social event for representatives of the industry and is a good showcase for Dubai and its excellent golf facilities. The Montgomerie Dubai and the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club did a great job and both courses were in excellent condition for the tournament."
Roek Van Wieringen claimed the overall visitor’s winner with his total of 72 points and overall Dubai based winner was Ian Walton with 74 points. Overall runner up went to Cees Vandooren with 70 points by virtue of the better second day and in 3rd place overall was Steve Flanagan with 70 points. Other winners in the gents division were Paul Idzik, Gurbax Singh, Eric Coletta, Art Millar, Jim Livie and Rai Legnar.
Overall Ladies Division visitor winner was Ruth Idzik with a grand total of 71 points, ten points clear of overall runner up Carmel King who scored 61 points. The best Dubai based score was recorded by Naema Maya who took home the crystal with 74 points leaving overall 3rd place to go to Jacqui Barry on 61 points. Other winners in the ladies division were Nancy Millar, Satnam Kaur, Joan Legnar, Maria Van Dooren, Jill McGuire and Paula Johnstone.
In the senior’s category, Martyn Westbury was crowned champion with his total score of 69 points by virtue of the better second day from Jan Baljet who finished runner up. Super Seniors Winner was the sprightly Liam Cahir finishing with a grand total of 63 points.
Also collecting prizes from Dubai Duty Free for their nearest the pin and longest drive efforts over the two days of golf were Maria Van Dooren, Satnam Kaur, Khalid Al Halyan, Neil Lovett, Ruth Idzik, Naema Maya, James McLean, Dermot O’Leary, Vicki Smyth, Steve Flanagan, David Freeborn, Nancy Millar, Mike Eastwood and Tom Barry.
